PRAYER AND FASTING DAILY PRAYER POINTS

Monday – Surrender

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

Families - Pray for strong, healthy families and Christ-centered homes in our communities.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you.

Personal Prayer Point: God, we surrender every area of our lives to You.

Scripture: Romans 12:1 / And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Devotional:
Imagine holding something tightly in your hands—so tightly that your knuckles turn white. It might be control over your future, a habit you don’t want to give up, or a fear you don’t want to face. The harder you grip it, the less able you are to receive anything else. Surrender works the same way. We can’t receive God’s best while clutching our own plans.

In the Old Testament, sacrifices were placed fully on the altar. They weren’t partially given or taken back later. Paul uses that imagery when he says we are to be “living sacrifices.” That means surrender isn’t a one-time prayer—it’s a daily decision. Prayer and fasting remind us that God is worthy of everything, not just the parts we’re comfortable giving.

As we begin this week, we don’t start by asking God to change our circumstances. We start by asking Him to change us. When we surrender, we’re not losing something—we’re gaining freedom.

Prayer Focus:

  • Release control over your life, family, and future
  • Ask God to reveal areas you’ve held back
  • Invite God to lead every decision

Tuesday – Repentance & Renewal

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

Schools - Pray for our schools to be places of safety, learning, and character formation.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you.

Personal Prayer Point: God, cleanse our hearts and renew our minds.

Scripture: Psalm 51:10 / Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

Devotional:
Think of a windshield after a long road trip. At first, the dirt is barely noticeable. But over time, bugs and dust build up until your vision is cloudy. You can still drive, but everything looks distorted. Sin works the same way. Rarely does it arrive all at once—it accumulates slowly until our spiritual vision is blurred.

David’s prayer in Psalm 51 came after a major failure, but his response shows us God’s heart. He didn’t run away in shame; he ran toward God in repentance. Repentance isn’t about beating ourselves up—it’s about letting God clean us up. When God washes us, He doesn’t just remove guilt; He restores clarity, joy, and purpose.

During this fast, God may reveal things that need to change—not to condemn us, but to renew us. Renewal always follows repentance.

Prayer Focus:

  • Confession of personal sin
  • Freedom from guilt and shame
  • A fresh, clean heart before God

Wednesday – Hunger for God

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

Government Leaders - Pray for wisdom, humility, and integrity for our local, state, and national government leaders.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you:

Personal Prayer Point: God, increase our hunger and thirst for You.

Scripture: Matthew 5:6 / God blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Devotional:
Everyone knows the difference between being mildly hungry and truly starving. When you’re starving, food becomes the focus of everything. Jesus uses these words on purpose—“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” Not those who casually snack on spiritual things, but those who are desperate for God.

Fasting exposes what we run to for comfort. When food is removed, we often notice how quickly we turn to distractions, entertainment, or control instead of God. But fasting also retrains our hearts. Every hunger pang becomes a reminder: I need God more than this.

God promises that hunger for Him will never go unanswered. He fills empty hearts. He satisfies seeking souls. This week, we don’t want to just know about God—we want to want Him.

Prayer Focus:

  • A deeper desire for God’s presence
  • Passion for prayer and Scripture
  • Less hunger for distractions, more hunger for God

Thursday – Unity in the Church

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

Churches - Pray for unity, spiritual power, and faithfulness among the churches in our communities.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you.

Personal Prayer Point: God, make us one as You are one.

Scripture: John 17:20–23 / 20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. 22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.

Devotional:
One stick on its own snaps easily. A bundle of sticks is hard to break. That’s the power of unity. Jesus prayed for unity not as a nice idea, but as a necessity. He said the world would know Him by the way His followers love one another.

Disunity doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like bitterness, offense, comparison, or isolation. Prayer and fasting soften our hearts toward each other. When we humble ourselves before God, it becomes easier to forgive, listen, and serve.

Unity doesn’t mean we’re all the same—it means we’re all committed to the same mission. When the church is united, God’s presence is magnified and His power is released.

Prayer Focus:

  • Healing in relationships
  • Humility and forgiveness
  • Strong unity across the church

Friday – Spiritual Breakthrough

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

People New To Faith or Curious About God - Pray for open hearts and clear understanding of the gospel.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you.

Personal Prayer Point: God, break strongholds and bring freedom.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:3–5 / 3 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

Devotional:
In the Bible, strongholds were fortified places—high walls built for protection. Spiritually, strongholds are patterns of thinking or living that feel impossible to tear down. Fear says, You’ll never change. Addiction says, You’ll always be stuck. Lies repeat themselves until they feel like truth.

But fasting is a declaration of war. It says we’re no longer passive about the things that hold us back. God’s power is greater than any habit, thought, or sin. What feels permanent to us is temporary to Him.

Breakthrough doesn’t always happen instantly, but it always begins when we bring things into the light. God specializes in freeing people who believe they’re beyond hope.

Prayer Focus:

  • Freedom from sin and bondage
  • Breaking unhealthy patterns
  • Victory over lies and fear

Saturday – Mission & Compassion

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

The Poor, Marginalized and Vulnerable: Pray for those who feel unseen, unheard, or forgotten.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you.

Personal Prayer Point: God, break our hearts for what breaks Yours.

Scripture: Matthew 9:36–38 / 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

Devotional:
Jesus looked at crowds of people and didn’t see interruptions—He saw compassion opportunities. He described them as “confused and helpless.” Fasting tunes our hearts to see people the way Jesus does. It moves us from apathy to action.

When we deny ourselves, we become more aware of others. We start noticing pain, loneliness, and need. God never fills us just for ourselves—He fills us so we can pour out. Compassion isn’t optional; it’s evidence of a transformed heart.

Prayer and fasting don’t end in the prayer room. They lead us into the world with open eyes and open hands.

Prayer Focus:

  • Compassion for the lost and hurting
  • Boldness to share the gospel
  • Willingness to serve

Sunday – Empowerment & Sending

Start by praying for God to move in our world:

Missionaries and Missions Organizations: Pray for the gospel to reach every nation and people group.

Now, read everything below and pray for God to move in you.

Personal Prayer Point: God, fill us with Your Spirit and send us out.

Scripture: Acts 1:8 / But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Devotional:
Before the disciples changed the world, they waited. They prayed. They depended on God. And when the Holy Spirit came, ordinary people were empowered to do extraordinary things. God doesn’t call the equipped—He equips the called.

This week of prayer and fasting isn’t an ending; it’s a beginning. God fills us so we can live differently, love boldly, and serve faithfully. What He’s done in us, He now wants to do through us.

As we close this fast, we ask God for more than a spiritual moment—we ask for a spiritual movement that continues into our everyday life.

Prayer Focus:

  • Fresh filling of the Holy Spirit
  • Courage to live on mission
  • Lasting fruit from this week
